The grip of madness is a type of hand armor.


You must be at least level 11 to craft and use the grip of madness hand armor.

Defensive helps

The grip of madness hand armor absorbs 0 damage in each round of a battle.

Sockets and gems

A pair of grip of madness gloves has a total of one socket for gems:


You can inscribe the grip of madness with any of the doom inscriptions for hand armor.


You may gain the following proc when wearing the grip of madness:

  • Procs-Mind spike.png  Mindspike: The mindspike proc is an offensive proc that deals periodic psychic damage against an opponent throughout the course of a battle. Mind spike is a level 3 proc on the grip of madness.


The grip of madness can be combined with one or more of the following items to form the set descent into madness:

Accessory Brain in a bottle
Belt Insanity belt
Boots Path of madness
Glyph Glyph of madness
Head armor Mask of madness

When two or more set items are used together, your entire set-up receives an additional bonus. See the descent into madness page or the sets page for more information about those bonuses.



You must craft the grip of madness hand armor with the assistance of the chaos agent, the local merchant in Dark oblivion.

Crafting materials

Collect the following items to craft the grip of madness:


You cannot trade or give the grip of madness to another player.


You cannot disenchant the grip of madness.
