Control is one of the three basic attributes you can know about each vampire. Control is about defense and the ability to respond to an attack. The other two primary attributes are rage and constitution.
The more control points you have, the stronger your vampire's defensive abilities.
You can allocate stat points to control to boost your defensive abilities. Increasing the amount of your control will increase the amount of your own defensive resources.
Many items of equipment may also have a control requirement that must be met with stat points directly allocated to control. Until you have reached the amount of control specified for an item you cannot purchase, craft, or use that item.
Control points that are temporary (those that are gained because of a weapon or piece of armor in your setup) do not count towards the number of control points required to use, craft or purchase particular items.
Some items can increase your control temporarily — while you have them equipped in your setup.
